Sinopsis Lengkap Rogue One: A Star Wars Story
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is a spin-off film from the franchise Star Wars which was released in 2016, set in the time just before the events Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. The film follows the daring mission of a group of rebels to steal the plans for the Galactic Empire's destructive weapon, The Death Star, which becomes an important turning point in the Rebel Alliance's struggle against the Empire's tyranny.
The story begins with a flashback in which Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen), a brilliant scientist, is forced by Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn), a high-ranking Imperial officer, to work on The Death Star Project. Galen, who rejects imperial ideology, flees with his wife, Lyra (Valene Kane), and their young daughter, Jyn Erso (Beau Gadsdon), to the remote planet Lah'mu. However, Krennic finds them, kills Lyra, and captures Galen, while Jyn manages to escape and hide.
Bertahun-tahun kemudian, Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) dewasa adalah seorang penutur kasar dan pemberontak yang hidup di bawah radar setelah ditinggalkan oleh mentornya, Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), seorang ekstremis anti-Kekaisaran. The Rebels take Jyn to their base at Yavin 4, where they reveal that Galen, her father, has sent a secret message through an Imperial deserter pilot, Bodhi Rook (Riz Ahmed). The message alluded to a fatal flaw in the design of The Death Star, a weapon that had just been tested by destroying the holy city of Jedha.
Jyn, Cassian, and the loyal droid K-2SO (voiced by Alan Tudyk), who is a reprogrammed former Imperial droid, are sent to Jedha to meet Saw Gerrera and gain information from Bodhi. In Jedha, they meet Chirrut ③mwe (Donnie Yen), a blind spiritual warrior who believes in strength, and Baze Malbus (Jiang Wen), Chirrut's more pragmatic loyal companion. The city of Jedha is in chaos due to Imperial occupation and Saw guerrilla attacks. When Jyn meets Saw, she sees a holographic message from her father, which reveals that he deliberately inserted a weakness in the Death Star—a reactor that can be destroyed to trigger a complete explosion. Galen also mentions that the Death Star plans are stored in an Imperial facility on the planet Scarif. However, before Jyn can go any further, The Death Star attacks Jedha, destroying the city and forcing Jyn, Cassian, Bodhi, Chirrut, and Baze to flee, while Saw chooses to stay and is killed in the attack.
Internal conflicts arose between the groups. Cassian, who was originally ordered to kill Galen to keep the Empire from completing the Death Star, begins to question his orders after seeing Jyn's dedication. They head to Eadu, the Imperial research facility where Galen works. There, Jyn attempts to save her father, but an uncoordinated rebel airstrike leads to Galen's death in Jyn's arms. The loss of her father triggers Jyn's determination to continue her mission in honor of Galen's sacrifice.
Back at Rebel headquarters, Jyn attempts to convince the alliance to attack Scarif and steal the Death Star's plans, but rebel leaders are split over the fear of the weapon's power. Without official support, Jyn, Cassian, and a small group of volunteers—including Bodhi, Chirrut, Baze, and K-2SO—decide to go on a daring mission on their own, naming their group “Rogue One”. With a stolen ship, they infiltrate Scarif, a planet heavily guarded by the planetary shield and the Imperial Fleet.
Di Scarif, Rogue One menghadapi pertempuran sengit. Jyn and Cassian manage to retrieve the plan and deliver it to a rebel ship in orbit just before the Death Star, led by Grand Moff Tarkin (Guy Henry), fires his weapon at Scarif to stop them. In the final moments, Jyn and Cassian, who have formed an emotional bond, embrace on Scarif beach as a wave of destruction from The Death Star attack approaches them. All members of Rogue One were killed, but their sacrifices were not in vain. The Death Star plan makes it to the hands of Princess Leia (played by Ingvild Deila with a digitally recreated Carrie Fisher face) on board Tantive IV, who fled with renewed hope for the Rebels. The Film closes with Leia saying the word " hope”" linking this story directly to A New Hope.
Important themes and elements Rogue One stands out for its darker and more realistic tone than the film Star Wars others, emphasize sacrifice, courage, and collective spirit in resisting oppression. The Film also expands on the mythology Star Wars by exploring the perspective of ordinary warriors, not Jedi heroes, as well as introducing diverse and complex characters.
