Film Synopsis Thunderbolts

Thunderbolts is the 36th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and concludes the fifth phase of The Multiverse Saga. Directed by Jake Schreier with a script written by Eric Pearson, Joanna Calo, and Lee Sung Jin, the film presents an antihero concept that differs from traditional superhero teams such as The Avengers. The Film follows a group of individuals with a dark past—former criminals, hitmen, and antiheroes—who are forced to work together on a dangerous secret mission under the control of the United States government. With complex character dynamics, intense action, dark humor, and exploration of redeeming themes, Thunderbolts offering a new, more grounded yet suspenseful experience in the MCU universe.

The story begins with Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), a former Black Widow assassin trained in the Red Room, who is struggling with the emptiness of life after the death of her adopted sister, Natasha Romanoff (Avengers: Endgame). Yelena works as a secret agent for Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), an ambitious and manipulative CIA director, known for her pursuit of power and control in the MCU. Valentina, who previously appeared in Black Widow and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, forming a team Thunderbolts to run secret operations that ordinary superheroes cannot handle. The team is made up of individuals with problematic backgrounds:

  •

Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), a former super soldier who is now a member of the US Congress after being freed from Hydra brainwashing. Ia menjadi pemimpin de facto tim ini, membawa dinamika ala Randle McMurphy dari One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest to unite a chaotic group.

  •

Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian (David Harbour), a Soviet super soldier full of nostalgia and humor, but possessing incredible physical strength.

  •

John Walker / U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), the controversial former replacement for Captain America, is known for his tough patriotic attitude and often provokes conflicts within the team.

  •

Ava Starr / Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), who is now able to control the ability to penetrate objects more stably after the event Ant-Man and the Wasp.

  •

Antonia Dreykov / Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), a former agent freed from her father's control and trying to find a new identity.

  •

Bob / Sentry (Lewis Pullman), a mysterious character with God-like superpowers, but harboring a dark side named The Void which is a big threat to the team and the world.

  •

Mail (Geraldine Viswanathan), Valentina's right-hand man who helps organize covert operations, although her role remains mysterious.

The story centers on a dangerous mission given by Valentina to the team Thunderbolts. They are sent to kill a specific target in a safe, but soon realize they have been trapped in a deadly trap designed to finish them off. This trap forces the team to confront each other's dark pasts, from Yelena's trauma over Natasha's loss, Bucky's inner conflicts as a former assassin, to John Walker's moral dilemmas as a controversial antihero. The internal tension is compounded by the inharmonious nature of the team—they are “a bunch of outcasts, losers, and individuals who don't really live up to the standard of ‘super’ in superheroes,” as David Harbor describes it.

As the mission progresses, the team uncovers Valentina's devious plan involving the Sentry, a superhero with incredible powers who has a dangerous alter ego, The Void. Sentry, played by Lewis Pullman, is portrayed as an ambivalent character with powers equivalent to Superman's, but whose dark side can destroy the world. Teams Thunderbolts- named after Yelena's childhood soccer team—must work together to stop this external threat, as well as counter Valentina's manipulation of a hidden agenda to harness the power of the Sentry. In the process, they also encounter mysterious artifacts such as Loki's wand (which no longer has the Mind Stone, but is still dangerous) that appear in the trailer.

Set in exotic locations such as Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the film features spectacular action, including scenes of Yelena jumping from a skyscraper. The darker and more complex nuances of the story, combined with a touch of comedy and emotion, make Thunderbolts terasa seperti “film indie A24 dengan pahlawan super Marvel,” menurut Florence Pugh. The Film also explores themes of redemption, cooperation, and the search for meaning in the midst of chaos, with chemistry between characters that is full of conflict but interesting.

Thunderbolts also links some story threads from previous MCU projects, such as Black Widow, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Ant-Man and the Wasp, as well as providing clues about the future of the MCU, including possible connections with Avengers: Doomsday. Kehadiran karakter pendukung seperti Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross (Harrison Ford, meskipun keikutsertaannya masih diragukan), Bill Foster (Laurence Fishburne), dan Melina Vostokoff (Rachel Weisz) menambah lapisan cerita, sementara spekulasi tentang cameo kejutan—khas MCU—meningkatkan antisipasi penggemar.

The main question that hangs over is: Will the team Thunderbolts are these dysfunctional ones able to overcome their differences, confront the dark past, and unite to become something greater? Or, will they be ruined by Valentina's internal conflicts and manipulations? With a combination of action, thriller and psychological exploration, Thunderbolts promises a unique and unforgettable cinematic experience.

          Compatibility with Children

The Film "Thunderbolts*" does not yet have an official rating as of May 2025, but based on the description and trailer, the film will most likely have a rating PG-13 (like most MCU movies) as it contains the following elements:

          •

Violence and action: Intense fight scenes, contract killings, and covert operations that may feature moderate to severe violence.

          •

Dark Theme: Focusing on trauma, depression, and existential crises (e.g., Yelena feeling empty) can be too complex or strenuous for children under 13.

          •

Language and Humour: Although there is humor from characters such as Red Guardian, the dialogue may contain mild abusive language or adult references.

          •

Emotional Content: The theme of loss (for example, Yelena mourns Natasha) and internal conflicts can confuse or annoy a small child.

            Age Recommendation:

            •

Children under 10 years old: Not recommended due to dark themes, violence, and complex narratives that are difficult to understand. Dangerous action scenes (for example, Yelena jumping from a skyscraper) can also be scary.

            •

Children 10-12 years: Can watch with the accompaniment of parents, especially if they are already familiar with MCU films like “Avengers” or “Black Widow”. Parents need to discuss ambiguous emotional and moral themes (antiheroes) after watching.

            •

Teenagers 13 years and older: Generally suitable, as they are better able to understand the dynamics of the characters and the theme of redemption. However, parents still need to consider the child's sensitivity to violence or mental health topics.

              Note to Parents:

              •

Check the official rating (likely PG-13) on sites like the MPAA or IMDb before watching.

              •

Discuss with the child the differences between heroes and antiheroes, as well as how the characters deal with trauma, to provide moral context.

              •

If the child is sensitive to violence or themes of loss, consider postponing viewing until they are older.

Overall “ "Thunderbolts*" offers an interesting story for MCU fans, but its themes and content are more suitable for teenagers and adults than young children.

[35
36,264
post-10066","product","type-product","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","product_cat-film","product_tag-film","product_tag-marvel","desktop-align-left","tablet-align-left","mobile-align-left","first","instock","shipping-taxable","product-type-simple

Review Ulasan Thunderbolts - Screen Score

Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), supersoldier yang menjadi pemimpin de facto tim, kini anggota Kongres AS. U.S.
Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), supersoldier yang menjadi pemimpin de facto tim, kini anggota Kongres AS. U.S.
https://screenscore.digitalmama.id/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/MV5BNDIzNGUwZmYtODM0Yy00NjA3LTgxOGUtOTY0ZGM5MjBkM2I3XkEyXkFqcGc@._V1__result.webp
{"Est. reading time":"5 minutes
@context":"https://schema.org","@graph":[{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://screenscore.digitalmama.id/content/thunderbolts/
https://screenscore.digitalmama.id/content/thunderbolts/
Review Ulasan Thunderbolts -
