Major Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys), a widower originally from the mainland, leads a small town called Widow’s Bay on a remote island off the coast of New England (about 40 miles from the coast). The city is beautiful, quiet, and has classic New England charm, but is struggling economically.Tom very ambitiously wants to turn Widow & #8217;s Bay into a popular tourist destination like Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket. He invited New York Times journalists to write positive articles and began to aggressively promote tourism.Unfortunately, local residents who have lived for generations strongly oppose this plan. They believe the island was cursed hundreds of years ago. When a thick fog suddenly comes, a variety of strange and terrible events begin to occur: missing people, mysterious attacks, supernatural apparitions, and chaos that threaten the safety of residents and tourists who begin to arrive.Tom, who is initially very skeptical of the superstitions of the citizens, slowly has to face the fact that the curse may be real. Meanwhile, she also has to take care of her teenage son (Evan) and deal with various eccentric characters in the small town.The series combines the comedic efforts of a mayor who wants to modernize the city with supernatural horror that grows more gripping as the story progresses.

Background & Atmosphere:

Beautiful but isolated island (no good WiFi, bad cellphone signal). The atmosphere “ cozy horror” is very strong — classic wooden houses, thick fog, sea and quirky residents. But behind it lies a dark history involving demonic covenants, sacrifices, and curses that recur every few decades.The Curse of Widow & #8217;s Bay dates back to 1702 when the island's founders made a pact with an evil entity to save the colony. This curse “ wake up” again when the fog came and brought various supernatural evils.The series is very strong on tone balance-lots of hilarious scenes of character interactions and absurd situations, but it's also got effective jump scares and horror moments.
