Sinopsis Film The Wild (2023)
The Wild is a South Korean action and crime film released on November 15, 2023. Directed by Kim Bong Han and written by Kim Joo Man, the film depicts a dark world full of violence, despair, and betrayal in South Korea. Starring Park Sung Woong as Song Woo Chul and Oh Dae Hwan as Choi Do Sik, the film highlights the inner struggles and conflicts between two friends who choose different life paths after a dark past. Background Story
The Film centers on Song Woo Chul, a talented former boxer who falls into the world of illegal Boxing. Eight years before the story begins, Woo Chul gets involved in an underground boxing match that ends tragically with the death of his opponent. As a result of the incident, he was sentenced to eight years in prison. However, due to good behavior while serving his sentence, Woo Chul is released early. He came out of prison with a strong determination to leave his dark past behind and start a new Honest Life.
Reunion with the past
Once free, Woo Chul is picked up by his old friend, Choi Do Sik, a gang leader who runs various illegal businesses, including gambling and narcotics trafficking—his biggest source of profit. Do Sik, shocked to hear Woo Chul's desire to live a clean life, initially tries to support his friend by offering him a job managing a bar. However, this plan does not go smoothly, as Woo Chul is still haunted by guilt over the death of his opponent in an illegal boxing match. He refuses further involvement with the criminal world and decides to sign up to work on a ship that will sail in three months, as a step to completely get out of his old life.
Conflict and betrayal
Although Woo Chul goes to great lengths to keep his hands clean, his past continues to haunt him. Do Sik, who has a hidden agenda, is not willing to lose Woo Chul, who was once an important part of his operation. Do Sik subtly drags Woo Chul back into a dark world full of violence and intrigue. The situation is further complicated when various unexpected events occur before Woo Chul has time to set sail, forcing Woo Chul to face a severe moral dilemma: stay loyal to his best friend or choose a way out of a criminal world full of dangers.
Woo Chul is forced back into the world of illegal boxing and faces brutal fights that test him physically and mentally. Amid the chaos, he must also deal with the betrayal of those closest to him, including Do Sik, whose personal interests turn out to be at odds with their friendship.
