Max is a spoiled terrier who enjoys a comfortable life in a New York building until his owner adopts Duke, a giant and unruly dog. While walking outside, they encounter a group of ferocious alley cats and end up in a truck headed to a shelter. Fortunately, a rebellious rabbit named Snowball comes to rescue the canine duo from captivity. Instead, Snowball has Max and Duke join his group of abandoned pets on a mission against the humans who have wronged them.
