Starring Mark Wahlberg as Vince Papale, the film is set in Philadelphia in the 1970s, where Vince, an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles team, works part-time as a substitute teacher and bartender. His life takes a drastic turn when the Eagles ' new coach, Dick Vermeil (played by Greg Kinnear), holds an open tryout in search of new talent. Despite having no experience playing professional football, Vince ventured to take the test.
