A few years after the events of the first film, Jake Sully and Neytiri are already living quietly as leaders of the Omatikaya tribe in the forests of Pandora. They have three biological children (Neteyam, Lo'ak, and Tuk) and an adopted daughter named Kiri (daughter of avatar Dr. Grace Augustine is dead. They also care for Spider, a human child left behind on Pandora.Their peaceful lives are disrupted when the Resources Development Administration (RDA) — a human enterprise — returns to Pandora to exploit new resources. They bring in an army of recombinant avatars (na'vi clones), including Colonel Quaritch who is “revived” in the body of the NA'vi avatar and greatly hates Jake.When Quaritch and his army begin to threaten Sully's family, Jake decides to flee with his family to the Pandora Sea region (Reef). There they seek refuge in the Metkayina Tribe, a Na'vi tribe that lives in the sea and has a close relationship with a giant sea creature named Tulkun.In this new environment, the Sully family must learn to adapt to life in the water: swim, deep dive and ride sea creatures.
