Taste Anthology

"Anologi Rasa" is an Indonesian romantic drama film released on February 14, 2019, adapted from the novel of the same name by Ika Natassa. Film ini disutradarai oleh Rizal Mantovani dan dibintangi oleh Herjunot Ali (Harris), Carissa Perusset (Keara), Refal Hady (Ruly), serta Atikah Suhaime (Denise). The story centers on four best friends who work as bankers in a metropolitan urban environment. They are trapped in a complicated and unrequited love affair: Harris loves Keara, Keara loves Ruly, while Ruly harbors feelings for married Denise.
The Film depicts the dynamics of friendship, unrequited love and emotional conflicts against the backdrop of a hectic urban life. The narrative is delivered through the point of view of several characters, highlighting restrained feelings and difficult decisions in relationships. The visuals are interesting with a metro-pop style that reflects modern life, supported by poetic and relatable dialogue, as Harris quotes: “if he makes you laugh, that's a sign you like him. If she makes you cry, it's a sign that you love her."Even so, some critics have mentioned that the film lacks depth in character development and feels like a novel summary due to its limited duration.
Compatibility with Children
The " anthology of flavors” is less suitable for children, especially those under 13, for the following reasons:
  1. Theme and emotional content: The Film focuses on complex love themes, including unrequited love, emotional infidelity, and adult relationship dilemmas. This deep emotional conflict is more relevant for adolescents or young adults who are already beginning to understand the dynamics of interpersonal relationships, rather than children who are still in the stage of basic emotional development.
  2. Scene and language: There are scenes featuring adult situations, such as getting drunk in a nightclub and intimate conversations that may be difficult to understand or inappropriate for children. The language also tends to be poetic and layered, which can confuse young audiences.
  3. Educational value for children: Although the film offers lessons on the importance of expressing feelings and valuing friendship, the message is delivered in a context more suitable for a teenage or adult audience. Children may not be able to relate these stories to their experiences and could lose their moral core.
  4. Age Rating: Officially, the film does not have a strict rating in Indonesia, but according to international standards (e.g. MPAA), the content is likely PG-13 (Parental Guidance for under 13s) due to adult themes and some scenes that are not suitable for young children.
Conclusion
"Anthology of flavors" is more suitable for teenagers (age 13 and over) or adults who can appreciate complex love stories and emotional reflections. For children, this film is not suitable because the theme is too adult and lack of entertainment or educational elements that are relevant for their age. If you are looking for a spectacle for a child, an animated film or family drama with a simple message and cheerful visuals will be more appropriate.
