Muzan was born in the Heian era (about 1,000 years before the main story) as a weak-bodied human suffering from a chronic illness. Due to her fragile condition, a doctor tried to cure her with an experimental drug made from blue spider lilies (Blue Spider Lily). However, this drug actually turned him into a demon with incredible power, although he lost the ability to survive in the sun.
