Zanka's background is the core of her personality and motivation.
- Noble Families: Zanka was born in “the Ground” (the rich surface world) as a member of the esteemed nijiku family. This family has a long history of producing elite warriors known as Hell Guards, which acts as a police and military force in the upper world.
- Akademi Hell Guard: From a young age, Zanka was expected to follow in her brothers ' footsteps and become a Hell Guard. He enrolled in the Hell Guard Central Academy and dedicated himself completely. Through extreme hard work, he becomes the best student in his class and is seen as a genius by his peers. Zanka himself began to believe that his hard work had made him a genius.
- Crushing Defeat: His confidence is shattered when a transfer student from the slums named Hyo join his academy. Hyo is a “natural genius " who easily defeats Zanka in sparring, taking the top spot in the class without seeming to be trying.

Role in the story
At the beginning of the series Gachiakuta, Zanka acts as a stern senior and mentor to the protagonist, Rudo Surebrec. He was part of the Akuta team that found Rudo.
Throughout the anime's first season, Zanka plays an important role in the battle against a group of enemies known as “the Raiders”. The climax is his brutal fight against Jabber Wonger, a Raider who also has a philosophy contrary to his. This fight tested the limits of Zanka's abilities and beliefs.
