Biography

Song Joong-ki is a famous South Korean actor who was born on September 19, 1985 in Dong District, Daejeon. He grew up in the rural outskirts of Daejeon as the middle child of three brothers. Since childhood, Song showed talent in sports, especially in short-track speed skating, and once represented his hometown at the national level. However, an injury he suffered in high school forced him to leave the sport. Song then focused on education and managed to score 380 out of 400 on the national college entrance examination, which led him to enter Sungkyunkwan University, one of the top universities in South Korea. He graduated in 2012 with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in broadcasting.

Song's acting career began when she was discovered by a talent scout on the subway while preparing for her university entrance exams. Although initially hesitant because his father was against him becoming an actor, he ended up making his debut in 2008 through the film A Frozen Flower. His name became widely known after starring in historical dramas Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010) and became one of the early members of the popular variety show Running Man (2010–2011). Her continued success with leading roles in plays The Innocent Man (2012) and film A Werewolf Boy (2012), which became one of the best-selling Korean melodramas of all time.

The peak of Song Joong-ki's popularity occurred in 2016 through drama Descendants of the Sun, which made him a global Hallyu star. He is also known for his roles in plays such as Vincenzo (2021) and Reborn Rich (2022), as well as films such as Space Sweepers (2021).
