Biography
Gary Leonard Oldman lahir pada 21 Maret 1958 di New Cross, London, Inggris. He is a British actor, director and musician known for his intense acting style and incredible ability to transform into various characters. Oldman grew up in a working-class family; his father, Leonard Bertram Oldman, was a welder and former sailor who left the family when Gary was seven due to alcoholism problems. His mother, Kathleen Cheriton, was a homemaker who supported Gary's interest in the Performing Arts since childhood.
Oldman showed acting talent from a young age and eventually earned a scholarship to study at Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama, where he graduated with a BA in acting in 1979. Her career began on the theatre stage, performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Royal Court Theatre, before eventually moving to the big screen. His film Debut took place in 1982 with Remembrance, but he really stole the world's attention with his role as Sid Vicious in Sid and Nancy (1986), a biopic about the troubled Sex Pistols frontman.
Known as one of the most versatile actors of his generation, Oldman often plays complex characters, ranging from charismatic villains to iconic historical figures. He received critical acclaim for his role as Joe Orton in Prick Up Your Ears (1987), Lee Harvey Oswald dalam JFK (1991), dan Count Dracula dalam Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992).
