Biography

Christina Ricci is an American actress who has captivated the audience with her extraordinary talent and diverse choice of roles. From an iconic child star to a respected character actress, her journey in the entertainment industry was marked by unforgettable performances and constant artistic evolution.

 

A challenging early life

 

Born on February 12, 1980, in Santa Monica, California, Christina Ricci is the youngest of four children. His father, Ralph Ricci, is a lawyer and therapist, while his mother, Sarah (née Murdoch), is a former model who later worked as a real estate agent. Ricci's childhood was marked by turmoil, including her parents ' divorce when she was 13. She has openly talked about her “terrible” childhood and how acting became an escape for her.

Ricci began her career in entertainment at an early age, appearing in several television commercials before making her film debut at the age of ten in films Mermaids (1990), bersama Cher dan Winona Ryder. However, her role as the cynical and precocious Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family (1991) and its sequel, Addams Family Values (1993), which literally catapulted him to stardom.

After his initial success as a child star, Ricci smoothly transitioned into more mature and challenging roles, often opting for independent films that explored dark and complex themes. Christina Ricci's personal life is also in the public spotlight. She was previously married to James Heerdegen, and they had a son named Freddie. After a difficult divorce, Ricci found new happiness with Mark Hampton, a hairdresser. The couple married in 2021 and welcomed a daughter, Cleopatra, the same year.

Outside of her acting career, Ricci is a vocal advocate for survivors of sexual assault. She has worked closely with the RAINN organization (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) to raise awareness and provide support for victims.
