Biography

Anthony Dwane Mackie was born on September 23, 1978 in New Orleans, Louisiana, United States. He is an American actor best known for his role as Sam Wilson, who originally played Falcon and later Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Mackie grew up in New Orleans and showed an interest in acting from a young age. He studied at The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and then continued his education at The Juilliard School, one of the most prestigious art schools in America, where he honed his acting skills.

Mackie made his film debut in 2002 with a small but memorable role as Papa Doc in the semi-biographical drama film 8 Mile. Her career has continued to grow with appearances in a variety of genres, ranging from independent dramas to blockbuster action films. He received critical acclaim for his role in Brother to Brother (2004), for which he was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award as Best Actor, as well as The Hurt Locker (2008), which earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the same event. However, his global popularity soared when he joined the MCU in 2014 as Sam Wilson in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

In addition to acting, Mackie is also known for his charismatic personality and involvement in off-screen projects. He married Sheletta Chapital in 2014, his childhood sweetheart, and had four children before divorcing in 2018. Mackie also briefly opened a bar called NoBar in Brooklyn, though the venture eventually closed in 2015. He remains one of Hollywood's most respected actors, with a career that continues to flourish today.
